The ASID Foundation, Inc., provides scholarships and awards for undergraduate and graduate students in a number of categories. Below is a complete listing of all ASID Foundation Scholarships and Awards for 2010.

 

Mabelle Wilhelmina Boldt Scholarship
One Award of $2,000
Deadline: The 2010 Deadline has Expired

Mabelle Wilhelmina Boldt Scholarship is open to students who are enrolled in or have applied for admission to a graduate-level interior design program at a degree-granting institution. Applicants must have been practicing designers for a period of at least five years prior to returning to graduate school level. The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic/creative accomplishment, as demonstrated by school transcripts and a letter of recommendation. Preference will be given to students with a focus on design research.

Joel Polsky Academic Achievement Award
One Award of $1,000
Deadline: The 2010 Deadline has Expired

Joel Polsky Academic Achievement Award is given annually by the ASID Educational Foundation to recognize an outstanding undergraduate or graduate student’s interior design research or thesis project. Research papers or doctoral and master’s theses should address such interior design topics as educational research, behavioral science, business practice, design process, theory or other technical subjects. Entries will be judged on actual content, breadth of material, comprehensive coverage of topic, innovative subject matter, bibliography and references.

Joel Polsky Prize

One Award of $1,000
Deadline: The 2010 Deadline has Expired

Joel Polsky Prize is given by the ASID Educational Foundation to recognize outstanding academic contributions to the discipline of interior design through literature or visual communication. Entries should address the needs of the public, designers and students on such topics as educational research, behavioral science, business practice, design process, theory or other technical subjects. Material will be judged on innovative subject matter, comprehensive coverage of topic, organization, graphic presentation, bibliography and references.

Yale R. Burge Competition
One Award of $750 and up to Five Certificates of Excellence
Deadline: The 2010 Deadline has Expired

Yale R. Burge Competition is open to all students in their final year of undergraduate study enrolled in at least a three-year program of interior design. The competition is designed to encourage students to seriously plan their portfolios. Portfolio components, submitted on slides, may be as few as eight, but are not to exceed 12. These "Best of Work" components may include work that is as diverse as a lighting plan, graphic, sketch, furniture or cabinetry detail, paper flow chart or life-cycle cost analysis presentation, as well as the more usual furniture layout, color board and perspective rendering. Any one of these items equals one component. Any combination of these components may be used but under no circumstance may the total exceed 12 components. Judges will evaluate presentation skills, design and planning competency and conceptual creativity.

Irene Winifred Eno Grant
One Award of $1,000
Deadline: The 2010 Deadline has Expired

Irene Winifred Eno Grant is to provide financial assistance to individuals or groups engaged in the creation of an educational program(s) or an interior design research project dedicated to health, safety and welfare. The grant will be awarded on the basis of the project description, break down of potential use of funds and the marketing plan for the use/distribution of the end product of the project. The grant is open to students, educators, interior design practitioners, institutions or other interior design related group.

Dora Brahms Award
One Award of $1,500
Biennial Award
Deadline: The 2010 Deadline has Expired

Dora Brahms Award is open biennially to educational institutions on behalf of their students in historic preservation and/or restoration studies, to encourage and support the advancement of professional activities in historic preservation and/or restoration. Institutions must illustrate how the Dora Brahms Award will best assist the student of historic preservation/restoration, and the historic preservation and design education community.
